Media Sensor Options

Media sensor options
Product: T5000r
Symptom
What are the media sensor options, and how is top-of-form sensed with different media types?

Possible Cause
The media sensor options are set in the Gap/Mark Sensor submenu of CALIBRATE CTRL.

Recommend Solution
The following options are available in the menu CALIBRATE CTRL under “Gap/Mark Sensor “:

Gap: detects die-cut labels on liner media, and notches and holes in tag stock.
Mark: senses a black mark on the underside of tag or label stock.
Advanced Gap: detects liner gaps between die cut labels having a dark background.
Advanced Notch: detects notches or holes that interrupt a dark or black area on the underside of the media.
Disable: senses no label indicators and ignores all existing label length indicators on the installed
media.
Align the lower media sensor as described below for each Gap/Mark Sensor value. Align the upper media sensor with the lower media sensor, either to provide a consistent background or to use in conjunction with Advanced Gap or Advanced Notch.

Gap: position lower sensor where it is out of the path of preprinted areas and clear of fringe effects from the corner or edge of a label. If media is gapped and contains a hole or notch, move the sensor out of the path of any holes or notches. If non-gapped media has a notch or hole, position sensor to pass through the center of the notch or hole.
Mark: position lower sensor to pass through the center of the black mark, out of the path of preprinted areas.
Advanced Gap: position lower sensor where it is out of the path of preprinted areas and clear of fringe effects from the edge of a label. The upper sensor must be positioned above the lower sensor.
Advanced Notch: position lower sensor to pass through the center of the notch or hole, out of the path of preprinted areas. The upper sensor must be positioned above the lower sensor.
Disable: the lower and upper sensors are not used.
